  • Having established Communist governments throughout Eastern Europe Stalin now wanted to tighten his control on each country.
  • He did this by using Cominform and Comecon.
  • Cominform (Communist Information Bureau) 1947
  • This co-ordinated governments in Eastern Europe.
  • Office moved from Yugoslavia top Romania after Yugoslavia would not do as Stalin said.
  • Ran meetings and gave out instructions to Communist governments as to what they must do.
  • Comecon (Council for Mutual Economic Assistance) 1949
  • This co-ordinated industries and trade of Eastern Europe.
  • The idea of it was to trade with each other and not the West.
  • It favoured USSR produced goods and guaranteed a cheap supply of raw materials for the USSR.
  • Set up the bank for Socialist countries.
