- The Truman Doctrine was carried out in Greece.
- America was prepared to send money, equipment and advice to countries involved in Communist take over.
- This meant the USA didn't have to be directly involved in the fighting but could help stop Communism spreading.
- The prevention on Communism spreading is known as containment - the Iron Curtain border was accepted but it was not to move any further.
